The inaugural PAWS for Mount Dora event held on Sunday, April 11th was fabulous.  Nearly 200 individuals and 65 pets attended the event at which we raffled off over $400 in fabulous prizes including restaurant gift certificates, pet friendly lodging, pet supplies, T-shirts and many other items.

Mount Dora Ghost Walk Special Edition to raise money for the Haiti Relief Effort!

The Mount Dora Ghost Walk & the Mount Dora Historical Society is having a fundraising benefit performance on Friday February 19th and Saturday, February 20th, 7:00 and 8:00pm  with proceeds going to the Local Haiti Relief organization via St. Patricks Church in Mount Dora.

With ghost walks every 1st & 3rd Friday and Saturday of each month..tours at 7:00pm & 8:00pm.  This lantern led narrated ghost walk searches the streets, back alleys and buildings of Old Mount Dora that are told to possess ghosts, apparitions and spirits of those long departed. Combining an historical account of the history of the beginnings of downtown Mount Dora with the tales and legends of some scary ghostly encounters told to us by those who have witnessed these eerie happenings
With destinations not limited to the Ghosts of Drawdy Lane, the Lakeside Inn, the Renaissance Building, The Old City Jail Cell and the infamous Dr. Nutter’s House , You will encounter a history lesson and perhaps some scary encounters with current and past residents of Mount Dora.
Ghost Walks originate from the Mount Dora History Museum located at 450 Royellou Lane between 4th & 5th Avenues and between Donnelly & Baker Streets. Tour and interior show last about 90 minutes and cover about 3/4 miles of walking. Tours are preceded by a 20 minute seated theatrical performance title; "The Insidious Dr. Nutter. . Tours are held rain or shine and wheelchair friendly. Tours accommodating blind and low vision, handicapped and hearing impaired available. Spanish speaking tours available.

A Mount Dora Christmas Carol performed by the Mount Dora Ghost Walk crew!

The Mount Dora Ghost Walk of Mount Dora, Florida,will perform A Mount Dora Christmas Carol on Friday December 18th and Saturday December 19th at 7:00pm and 8:30pm originating at the Mount Dora History Museum 450 Royellou Lane, and continues to Donnelly Park located at the corner of Donnelly Street and 5th Avenue in beautiful downtown Mount Dora. The 45 minute walking theatrical tour begins with a 15 minute interior performance at the museum.


Hector DeLeon, Creative Director of The Mount Dora Historical Society is producing this walking theatrical adaptation of a Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol with what he terms a "Cracker Gothic" style. With Donnelly Park and its almost 2 million lights as your stage your tour guide takes you thru numerous live theatrical vignettes including the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Future and Present.

Mount Dora shops and restaurants will be open all evening to provide you with quality dining and shopping experiences.

There will be face painting, a juggler, bounce houses, Santa and Ms. Claus with a photographer on hand to capture the moment. There will be choirs from United in Praise and the United Methodist Church, First Baptist children's choir, an Acapella Group, a strolling violinist, keyboardist and Cockney Carollers for your listening enjoyment. Toy soldiers on stilts, snowflake girls, a magician, Dana Bright and Hitch N Time Carriage Tours will fill the streets to round out the evening.

There will also be food vendors on the streets with kettle corn, roasted nuts, hot pretzels, hot chocolate/coffee, soda/lemonade, hot dogs and hot cider. In addition to these options for food all of the restaurants in town will be open and ready to serve your dining needs.

Old Fashioned 4th of July Parade.

It may have been HOT on Saturday but spirits were high at the Old Fashioned 4th of July Parade in Downtown, Mount Dora. Folks turned out by the hundreds to see one of the best parades I can remember in the past 6 years.

Mount Dora Ghost Walk Update...

Mount Dora Historical Society’s Ghost Walk will be on Friday the 13th, Friday the 20th & Saturday the 21st with 3 tours at 6:30, 7:30 & 8:30pm.

Each tour begins with a 10 minute Marionette show and a 10 minute interactive theatrical performance which is followed by a 1 hour lantern led narrated walking ghost walk searching the streets, back alleys and buildings of Old Mount Dora that are told to possess ghosts, apparitions and spirits of those long departed.

Your Victorian dressed tour guide walks you on a historical account of the history of the beginnings of Mount Dora with legends and stories of those long departed. Stops including Dora Drawdy Lane, the Lakeside Inn, the Renaissance Building, The Women’s Hospital and the infamous Dr. Nutter House. Bring your camera to capture the historic buildings and capture the energy of Orb’s and Apparitions.

Ghost Walks originate from the Mount Dora History Museum located at 450 Royellou Lane between 4^th & 5^th Avenues and between Donnelly & Baker Streets. Tours last about 1 hour and 15 minutes and cover about 3/4 miles of walking and some big hills. Tours and Marionette shows in Spanish and for the deaf tours are offered but with minimum of a 1 week notice.
