WWII memorabilia at Lakeside Inn.

I hope everyone had the chance to check out the WWII display at Lakeside Inn all day on Saturday. It was fascinating to visit with the collectors of these historic items and chat with them about the day to day life of the WWII combat soldier.

Check out the spread of items in the last photo, 67 pounds that the GI's had to haul around in their back packs in addition to their heavy uniforms, guns and ammunition. Difficult to appreciate the sacrifice made by so many so long ago!

A big thanks to the Lakeside Inn for hosting the event, it was very educational.

Old Fashioned 4th of July Parade.

It may have been HOT on Saturday but spirits were high at the Old Fashioned 4th of July Parade in Downtown, Mount Dora. Folks turned out by the hundreds to see one of the best parades I can remember in the past 6 years.

Lost Pooch

I found this little guy roaming around on Highland.

Busy streets are no place for little doggies to play. No tags, no chip.

He's a super friendly tail wagger that just needs a little TLC.

He seems to be a mix between a dachshund and a jack russell.

Weighs about 10 lbs.
